Jewellery cabinet

Jewellery cabinet

This cabinet holds jewellery and was commissioned by the client to celebrate his wife’s birthday. He wanted something either very dark or very pale but otherwise gave no design suggestions.

I designed a cabinet of gentle curves, made from palest sycamore with ebony contrast. Pegs on the inside of the doors are for hanging necklaces, while the four drawers, lined with kid leather, are partitioned to store smaller items. The shelves and drawer partitions are all removable.

Materials: Sycamore, ebony and oak.

Dimensions: 380mm (h) x 240mm (w) x 195mm (d)

Guide price: £2000.

Closed view of cabinet, showing the curved side panels. Side view of the cabinet, that show the doors have the opposite curve to the sides. Internal view, showing necklaces hanging on the doors. Side view showing dovetails on drawer sides. Compartments in drawers that allow small objects to be stored. Drawers showing removable oak storage compartments.
